THE VOW FROM HIROSHIMA is an intimate portrait of Setsuko Thurlow, a passionate, 85-year-old survivor of the atomic bomb in Hiroshima. Her moving story is told through the lens of her growing friendship with a second-generation survivor, Mitchie Takeuchi.

Presented in partnership with the Edmonton Japanese Community Association, the John Humphrey Centre, the International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War Canada, the Hiroshima Nagasaki Day Coalition, the Simons Foundation Canada, and the Edmonton Peace Consortia.

This year marks the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Many survivors of the bombing have become worldwide peace activists including Nobel Peace prize winner and bomb survivor, Setsuko Thurlow.  As part of the 80th Anniversary, the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum has created a new series of 30 photographic posters to educate and create awareness of the impact of these bombings. Posters from the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum photographic display will be in the lobby for viewing.
