In 1959, a young filmmaker and journalist for Cahiers du Cinéma named Jean-Luc Godard has just screened his good friend Francois Truffaut’s new film THE 400 BLOWS, witnessing its glorious reception at the Cannes Film Festival. Eager to start a project of his own, he manages to secure funds to produce his first feature film. Enlisting old friend Jean-Paul Bolmondo and new friend Jean Seberg,Godard’s singular voice as a director emerges as he mounts, sometimes confoundingly, the now-classic BREATHLESS.
