2025 Oscar Nominated Shorts: Documentary

Various, 159 min, Dir: Various
Presented by the Edmonton International Film Festival

This programme contains violence, coarse language, and mature themes.

The Documentary Shorts OSCARS® category has been an eye-opening and informative group of short films for many years, and this year is no different. Difficult and urgent issues like capital punishment, in-school violence, and police brutality are uncovered and scrutinized with care and artistry, while two music-themed shorts underline the effect of the arts, from the perspective of a 6 year old and an 87 year old. This programme doesn’t shy away from the ugliness present in our world, and doesn’t forget the beauty.
