COMING HOME is a documentary about queer and trans joy, told through the experience of Elli as she navigates gender transition in her mid-30s. Through personal reflections and conversations with family, friends, and local community members, Elli explores how fear keeps us small, the joy authenticity brings, and the power of (re)discovering your voice.
The screening will be followed by a panel discussion exploring shared and differing trans experiences, the joy and challenge of living authentically and how the trans experience can be a lens on navigating all kinds of personal transformation. There will also be an opportunity for attendees to learn more about local 2SLGBTQ+ supports through community organization booths set up in the lobby.
The organizers are excited to welcome members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community as well as those looking to understand and better support the community during this time in which queer and trans rights are under attack. They’re creating space for curiosity, connection, and collective reflection, grounded in a belief that this topic could use more grace, openness and collective compassion. This is a great opportunity to bring a friend, family member or co-worker to engage with queer and trans issues.
