About the programmer: Dr. K.D. Burton is an Assistant Lecturer at the University of Alberta where she teaches courses on the history of sexuality (as well as classes on the history of drugs, alcohol, and other fun topics). Combined with her personal love of films, especially those from the “Golden Age” of Hollywood, and the ruptures that followed the end of the Hays Code, this series on film, culture, and queerness brings together topics that make her nerdy heart sing. She joined the Metro Cinema fundraising committee in 2024, and she is a strong advocate for the protection and preservation of local, independent theatres.
