Live From the Screen celebrates the dynamic heritage of jazz by weaving live performance and documentary film into a singular immersive experience. Each event pairs local jazz ensembles interpreting the music of featured artists or eras with carefully curated films that reveal the stories behind the sound. This series transforms Metro Cinema into a “listening room,” offering audiences a space to deeply engage with jazz’s evolving history and its ongoing impact.
Anchored in Edmonton’s jazz scene—one that “pushes above its weight” thanks to institutions like MacEwan University and The Yardbird Suite—this series highlights the city’s vibrant talent and rich musical culture. Inspired by the success of Metro’s Music Docs and The Organ Grinder Roadshow, Live From the Screen aims to educate, entertain, and inspire through the powerful union of sight and sound.
