Clue finds six colorful dinner guests gathered at the mansion of their host, Mr. Boddy – who turns up dead after his secret is exposed: He was blackmailing all of them. With the killer among them, the guests and Boddy’s chatty butler must suss out the culprit before the body count rises.
Join Metro Cinema and Teatro Live! as we launch the Teatro Film Club with the 1985 comedy classic CLUE! This new series pairs each of Teatro’s four stage productions this season with a specially chosen companion film.
With its country-house setting and wonderfully suspicious company, CLUE is a fitting companion to the Professional Canadian Premiere of Sandy Rustin’s The Cottage, playing November 12 to 29 at the Varscona Theatre. Set in an English country cottage in 1923, Rustin’s farce shares the film’s appetite for outrageous revelations and exceptionally bad behaviour. There’s a direct connection, too: Rustin also wrote the hugely popular stage adaptation of Clue, which has enjoyed more than 5,000 productions worldwide.
Teatro Live! Artistic Director Farren Timoteo will introduce the screening.
