Mosquers Opening Night Feature
When a young Somali teen is accused of a crime, a reluctant youth worker is assigned his case and must confront her own past to fight for his future.
Directed by Ilhan Abdullahi, recipient of the Mosquers Audience Award and Best Performance Award in 2024, LIFELINE marks her directorial debut. The film grew out of Abdullahi’s experience working with youth and community organizations, and a script she first wrote in 2014.
At its heart, LIFELINE is about community: the people who show up for one another, especially when systems fall short. With a focus on friendship, humour, care and resilience, the film offers a fuller picture of Black and Muslim youth and the everyday joy that exists alongside the challenges they face.
