Experience Andrzej Wajda’s powerful final film, AFTERIMAGE (2016), as part of Resistance and Resilience – 100 Years of Wajda! during Polish Week 2026. Inspired by the life of avant-garde Polish artist Władysław Strzemiński, the film follows his struggle to preserve his artistic freedom and integrity under the increasingly oppressive cultural policies of postwar Stalinist Poland. In celebration the centenary of Andrzej Wajda, this event is presented by the Wirth institute for Austrian and Central European Studies, the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Vancouver, the Canadian Polish Congress Alberta Society, & in partnership with WFDiF, as part of Polish Week 2026 at the University of Alberta.
