METRO GALLERY: WE ARE NOT SURE TU TAMPOCO

Artist Bio

Lucia Rodriguez: It took me a long time to write this because I am both primally uncomfortable talking about myself and honoured to be working alongside/occupying space in two of the things that likely shaped me most in my life; my father, and the metro cinema.

Pedro Rodriguez De Los Santos is originally from Montevideo, Uruguay and has been an artist based in Edmonton, Alberta for 23 years. Pedro is an accomplished visual artist and artist educator who has made important contributions to the public artin Alberta. He has been a leader in the development of participatory art, art community mapping and visual story telling. Pedro has done extensive development of workshops and tools to teach organizations about the use of art for community development, community design and to address trauma, including around the COVID-19 pandemic. His work has included a specific focus on youth, community engagement and involvement of new immigrants. De Los Santos has also completed numerous art exhibits and community theatre projects.

Pedro has been the lead artist for many large-scale public mural projects in Alberta, using participatory engagement processes such as community interviews, archival research and community story telling to develop the overall designs.

Pedro has training from the Torres Garcia art school, completed a certificate in post trauma and has a Masters Degree in Psychology.
